Like I've always said, life does amazing things, but rarely what you had planned. Basic Combat Training was incredible, awesome, crazy and awful, all in an amazing way, but I was medically discharged from the Army for osteoarthritis in both knees. Which sure explains all that pain. I let it get me down for a couple months, and I confess, it still makes me mad now and then. But, I've already moved on to my next fun adventure, because that's just who I am. ;)
The good news is that I did lose 30 lbs while in BCT and I've made a lot of changes to my diet to eat healthier, more natural and organic. I still workout 5-6 days a week, I just use the eliptical as my cardio and still lift weights like before. Super fantastic trainer Kelechi moved to San Francisco, so without her, I admit I probably don't push myself very hard. But my goal is to be more tone and fit and I'm still working towards that and feeling pretty good about it. The pain in my knees never prevents me from working out like before, so I feel like quitting running was the right choice to make, though I think I'm still a little bitter about it.
I spent the weekend making homemade protein bars, but they need some tweeking before I share recipes. Both the pumpkin spice bars and the chocolate banana bars are yummy, but very dense and a smidgen dry. Unfortunately it made enought to last me 3 weeks before I will need more! So next month I will work on those recipes and see what I can come up with.
My new goal is to get out there and travel more, which is what my new blog Fearless Fantastic is dedicated to. I've also gone back to college to finish my accounting degree, which is another long process. Overall I'm feeling very blessed and content, though still looking to make progress and reach goals. Which is what life should always be about. :)
